COMPOSER
/ CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Taylor Locke was born in Santa Monica, CA, but never learned to surf. Curiously neither did The Beach Boys, with the exception of Dennis, for whom things didn’t work out so well.
He attended the prestigious yet controversial Crossroads School (AKA Nepo Baby Academy), even though his parents are not in the music business. It was here that he learned both the Art & Science of taking things too seriously, while also maintaining ironic detachment.
Upon graduating, he made his debut album for Geffen Records with his band Rooney. They recorded and toured globally for 13 years. After that Taylor built a recording studio, and turned his attention to record production, as well as songwriting for other artists, film & tv.
He ventured into live theater, as head writer and performer in Don’t Stop, the Musical (a comedy about Fleetwood Mac) for the Largo theater, in which he portrayed Lindsey Buckingham.
He has performed as guitarist for art-rock legends Sparks, Jelly Roll, Dolly Parton, and Don Henley.
Taylor recently completed a 5-year stint as the lead guitar player for Grammy-winning, multi-platinum pop/rock band, Train. They toured amphitheaters and arenas each summer across the US, Europe, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.
After welcoming their second glorious daughter, Taylor’s super-glorious wife said “it’s better when you’re home,” and he agreed. He is now composing original songs for commercials and recording artists, along with producing records.
STUDIO
Studio Velveteen is Taylor’s custom built recording studio in the heart of Los Feliz. He’s been producing bands, solo artists, scores and songs since 2011.
